Description

Automatic compression, resizing and image backups

Imagify combines automatic compression with controls for image quality and size. Smart compression balances file size and quality, while optional lossless compression suits workflows where preserving image detail matters; it can optimize new uploads and existing media, including PDFs.

You can set a maximum width of up to 2560 pixels and choose which image sizes to optimize. Original files can be kept in a separate folder and restored, which is useful if you want a fallback before applying changes across a media library.

Background optimization and WebP or AVIF conversion

Imagify can process a Media Library in the background, so bulk optimization does not require you to pause other WordPress work. This is useful for larger libraries, though the monthly allowance still applies.

You can generate WebP, AVIF, or both, and next-generation conversion is included in the free plan. Browsers that do not support WebP receive images in their original format, reducing the need for a separate fallback setup.

Free monthly quota and multi-site allocation

The free plan allows up to 20MB of image optimization each month, so sites with frequent or large uploads may need to monitor usage.

  • Shared quota: The allowance can be used across multiple websites and is shared evenly between them.
  • Sub-accounts: Create these to allocate quota between sites when an even split does not fit your needs.

A straightforward workflow with room to check support and limits

Imagify’s automatic settings and background processing make it approachable, but the free monthly allowance is an important constraint for image-heavy sites.

  • Adoption and rating: The plugin is widely installed and has a good rating supported by many reviews, useful signals of broad use and generally positive feedback.
  • Maintenance and support: It was updated within the past few months. Three support threads, with 67% resolved, offer a small and mixed snapshot rather than a strong basis for judging support overall.
  • Practical fit: It suits site owners who want compression and format conversion with little manual work; check expected monthly image volume and quota sharing before relying on the free plan across several sites.
