Description

Server-level page caching and cache controls

Automatic page caching requires LiteSpeed server software, LiteSpeed-powered hosting, or QUIC.cloud CDN, so hosting setup determines whether this core feature is available.

The plugin can purge related pages when site content changes, create private caches for logged-in users, cache REST API calls, and keep separate desktop and mobile versions. Site owners can schedule URL purges, exclude content by URI or other rules, and use a crawler to preload cache from a sitemap. ESI support is not available on OpenLiteSpeed, so sites relying on that feature need to check their server edition.

Optimization tools available on any web server

The optimization toolkit works with LiteSpeed, Apache, NGINX, and other web servers, making it useful even without LiteSpeed page caching.

  • CSS, JavaScript, and HTML: Minify files and combine CSS and JavaScript; additional options include asynchronous CSS and delayed or deferred JavaScript.
  • Critical CSS and lazy loading: Generate Critical CSS and defer images or iframes, with responsive image placeholders.
  • Image optimization: Compress images and support AVIF and WebP formats; image optimization requests use QUIC.cloud.
  • Site maintenance: Clean and optimize the database, with controls for Heartbeat activity.
  • Caching and delivery: Support browser caching, object cache services such as Redis and Memcached, and multiple CDN integrations. Some supported services must be available separately through the hosting setup.
  • Performance tuning: Includes PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals optimization tools. These options give site owners room to tune delivery across different server environments.

Free features, connected services, and data handling

LiteSpeed Cache is free and open source, but some LiteSpeed server editions and online services may involve fees.

When image or page optimization is requested, site data is sent to QUIC.cloud for processing; copies may be retained there for up to seven days. The plugin may also store temporary cached page copies locally on the server. Its privacy guidance includes suggested wording for a site’s privacy policy, and the described features do not collect visitor data. Site owners should review their privacy disclosures and any service costs before enabling connected features.

A broad toolkit with a support follow-through to watch

LiteSpeed Cache combines a wide range of optimization controls with conditional access to server-level caching, while its public support figures suggest room to check current response patterns.

  • Breadth and compatibility: The plugin describes support for Multisite and broad compatibility with popular plugins and themes. Its extensive documentation and community resources can help site owners understand the settings, but they do not establish support outcomes.
  • Support record: Of 66 public support threads, 32% are marked resolved. The plugin was updated recently and is among the directory’s most widely installed plugins, with an excellent rating from many reviewers. Before depending on forum help for a time-sensitive change, review recent threads and confirm your hosting supports the features you need.
