Description

Connect AI agents to WordPress through MCP

Jetpack connects AI agents to WordPress through a WordPress.com account, without requiring a separate MCP server. After enabling access, an agent can draft posts and pages, organize media, view stats, check backups, run scans, or manage newsletter settings.

Access controls let site owners choose which tools agents can use to read or change the site, turn individual tools off, or disable MCP access entirely. This gives administrators a way to limit agent activity to the tasks they want to delegate.

Backups, security scans, and site recovery

Jetpack brings backup, recovery, and security tools together, though several advanced protections are paid services.

  • VaultPress Backup: stores real-time backups off-site and supports one-click restores, migration, cloning, and test-site setup.
  • Malware and vulnerability scans: detect threats automatically and offer one-click fixes; a firewall blocks malicious traffic.
  • Login and uptime protection: includes brute-force defense, two-factor authentication, downtime monitoring, and email alerts.
  • Site oversight: activity logs record changes and who made them; spam filtering blocks unwanted comments and form responses, while plugin auto-updates can be managed individually.

Stats, publishing, and performance tools

Jetpack covers audience measurement and site growth alongside image, video, and search services.

  • Jetpack Stats: tracks visitors, views, top content, referrers, countries, and interactions such as link clicks, video plays, and downloads.
  • Publishing and growth: create newsletters and paid subscriptions, share posts socially, use SEO tools and forms, collect payments, and monetize with ads.
  • Performance: an image CDN serves images and static files, while paid video hosting removes ads and off-site recommendations; paid search includes product filters for WooCommerce.
  • Jetpack Boost: can be paired with Jetpack for page caching and improved Core Web Vitals, making it a separate performance companion rather than a replacement for these tools.

Free features and paid services

Jetpack offers a free set of tools, while backups and several advanced services require payment.

  • Free features: Stats, image CDN, related posts, downtime monitoring, brute-force protection, social sharing, and SEO tools.
  • Paid services: real-time backups, malware scanning, spam filtering, video hosting, search, monetization, and priority support. Some services, including VaultPress Backup, Scan, and Akismet Anti-spam, can be purchased separately, which may suit sites that need only selected upgrades.

A broad plugin with support activity to weigh

Jetpack’s breadth can consolidate site services and AI-agent controls, but the mixed user-rating signal is worth weighing against its support and maintenance record. It is among the most widely installed plugins in the directory, and 82% of 60 support threads are marked resolved; the plugin is updated within the last week, with a stated monthly update cadence.

This range may suit site owners who want backups, security, analytics, and publishing tools in one place. The trade-off is that some central services are paid, so check which features your site depends on and whether you want an AI agent to have access to them.
