Maintenance mode, access and search visibility
Maintenance gives site owners a way to close the public-facing site while logged-in WordPress users continue to see it normally.
Visitors can be shown a temporary page, with authorization available to let them access the site. Search engines are affected only when the 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable setting is enabled, so check that option against your maintenance plan.
Customizing the maintenance page
The page builder covers the main visual elements and offers a few related options.
- Logo and background: add a logo and full-screen background image, with an optional blur effect.
- Colors and text: adjust colors, then customize the title, headline and body text to explain the outage.
- Google Analytics: support is available if you want to add analytics to the maintenance page.
- Bunny Fonts and data sharing: the plugin uses Bunny Fonts. Its notes say no resources are loaded or shared with third parties when neither Bunny Fonts nor Google Analytics is used; opting into either can involve data sharing or tracking under those services’ terms. Consider that trade-off when configuring the page.
Free plugin features and the PRO upgrade
The free plugin includes controls for access, page behavior and compatibility, while its description reserves its pre-made themes for PRO.
- Page exclusions: keep selected pages out of maintenance mode, and use caching-plugin support to accommodate common caching setups.
- Access and status: enable frontend login, show maintenance status in the admin bar, and switch the 503 response on or off.
- Additional controls: use Google Analytics support or the mtnc_load_maintenance_page_for_this_user filter to modify who sees the maintenance page.
- PRO themes: the description places more than 200 pre-made themes in the paid PRO version, so sites seeking those designs should plan for the upgrade.
A popular plugin with responsive support
Maintenance has broad adoption, a good user rating, and a recent update, which make it a credible option for a straightforward maintenance page.
All five listed support threads are resolved, a positive response signal, though the small thread count is not enough to establish a consistent pattern. The plugin was updated within the last few months; it may suit sites that want a configurable temporary page, while those needing pre-made themes should check the PRO offering.
