Ways to clone posts and create new drafts
Yoast Duplicate Post offers quick copies as well as routes that open a new draft for editing.
- Clone: Use the link beneath a post or page title to copy it immediately and return to the list. Bulk Actions can clone several selected items at once.
- New Draft: Choose this link beneath a title to open a copy in the editor. From the edit screen, use Copy to a new draft; the same action is also available in the admin bar.
While viewing a post as a logged-in user, the admin bar action opens its copy as a draft. A template tag can add a front-end link that leads to the new draft’s edit screen, making it useful when a site needs copying workflows outside the post lists.
Controls for roles and post types
Settings allow administrators to tailor the plugin’s behavior and limit which users and content types can access its actions.
The Permissions settings are worth checking if Clone or draft-copy actions are missing: the plugin must be enabled for the relevant roles and post types. This gives administrators a way to restrict access, while helping diagnose unavailable actions before investigating other causes.
A widely adopted plugin with limited recent support data
Yoast Duplicate Post combines broad adoption and an excellent rating with a small recent support sample.
- Adoption and rating: It is among the directory’s most widely installed plugins and has an excellent rating based on many reviews, giving prospective users a substantial record of adoption and feedback.
- Freshness: Version 4.7 was updated 23 days ago, so the plugin has had a recent release.
- Support snapshot: Two support threads are recorded, with 50% resolved. That small sample is not enough to draw a firm conclusion about support quality.
The adoption and rating make it a credible option for routine content copying, while the support figures offer little basis for predicting how a specific issue will be handled. Sites with tighter access requirements should check role and post-type permissions before relying on the copy actions.
