Description

Regional consent rules and cookie controls

Complianz combines guided setup and automated scans with controls for tailoring consent to visitors’ locations.

The setup wizard uses answers about the site, detected plugins and services, and visitor regions to configure consent. Automatic and periodic scans identify cookies and services, while region and subregion settings can apply different rules according to location.

Third-party cookies and embedded content can be blocked, with placeholders shown for blocked iframes. The Script Center controls scripts, plugins and iframes by category or service; the plugin also records consent and can anonymize data for integrated statistics tools.

Banner customization and accessibility

Banner options cover different consent approaches, with design and dismissal controls to adapt the notice to a site’s needs.

  • Banner layouts: Choose Cookie Wall, Accept/Dismiss, consent by category or consent by service.
  • Dismissal rules: Enable dismissal on scroll, after time on page, or both, with options adapted to applicable privacy rules.
  • Design controls: Customize the banner with CSS and templates, useful for matching a site’s visual style.
  • Accessibility: The banner and legal documents are described as following WCAG 2.1 AA and ADA accessibility guidance.

Cookie policies and WordPress integrations

Complianz generates a cookie policy and connects consent settings with a range of WordPress tools.

Its policy generator creates a cookie policy through a guided process, and it can provide a CCPA/CPRA opt-out page where required. A cookie database integration pre-fills cookie details and descriptions; more than 250 service and plugin integrations are stated.

Support includes Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and other analytics and tag-management tools. The WP Consent API shares consent states across plugins, while WordPress privacy features support personal-data export and erasure from the dashboard. Terms and Conditions come from a separate plugin.

A broad compliance toolkit that still depends on careful configuration

Complianz offers wide-ranging regional controls, but administrators remain responsible for configuring them correctly.

The plugin can help identify cookies, set location-based rules and manage consent, yet it explicitly does not guarantee that a site is compliant. That makes careful review of the wizard’s answers, detected services and final settings essential, particularly for sites subject to multiple privacy rules.

Just over a third of 47 support threads were resolved, a mixed signal for users who may need help with configuration. The plugin was also updated a little over two weeks ago, indicating recent maintenance. Its breadth may suit sites with varied services and international visitors, provided administrators are prepared to verify the setup rather than treat automation as a compliance guarantee.
